Moth Orchid

The generic name means “Phalaen[a]-like” and is probably a reference to the genus Phalaena, the name given by Carolus Linnaeus to a group of large moths; the flowers of some species supposedly resemble moths in flight. For this reason, the species are sometimes called Moth orchids. – Wikipedia

I broke my recent run of B&W and desaturated style with this beautifully colored orchid. I played with dramatic lighting which I found a little frustrating trying to get the light exactly as I wanted it. I used a single light from lower right and a white reflector to fill the heavy shadows up top.
